On the 14th April I had the pleasure to attend the National goalkeeper conference at St Georges Park the new English F.A Training centre were over 400 F.A licensed coaches from grass root level through to premier league and international level all got together for a 2 day conference.

The conference was focused on goalkeeper development with training demonstrations put on by the F.As top keeper coaches to demonstrate how they think goalkeeper coaching should be done the maximise development and move forward as the game changes .

Its was a grate opportunity for me to attend this conference as it was more experience for me to add to my coaching CV and tips and techniques to pass on to my students ,all my students in my just4keepers North Sheffield area with sessions in North Sheffield , Barnsley , Rotherham and Wakefield will all benefit from the most up to date training as I use all my own principles which I have pick up during my playing and coaching career which most of were passed to me by some off the best goalkeeper coaches in the country and influenced by some international keepers I still strive for more knowledge and will change and improve as football becomes more demanding and the role of the goalkeeper becomes more varied all areas will be covered in the sessions to maintain all round development.

One of the main things I brought home from the conference was how much the goalkeepers now need to have a good kicking technique and to be as much a extra defender as single goalkeeper keeping possession and setting up attacks is as important now as saving goals we are now a all singing all dancing player and the most important on the pitch.
