Goalkeeper Training Wirral

Dave Simpson is from Leicester and is a life long Leicester City fan. He has been a goal keeper for all his playing career. Whilst at high school in Leicester, Dave attended goal keeper training days at Leicester City, arranged by his Sports Master,  ex Leicester City player, Howard Riley.

After leaving school, Dave joined the Army, and continued playing as a goal keeper for each of the Units in which he served. Whilst in Germany, Dave spent two season with  SVE Bad Fallingbostel, of the Northern German Counties League. Unfortunately,
operational tours of duty cut this opportunity short.

Leaving the forces, Dave settled down on the Wirral and played at County level with Moreton FC. It was at this time that he became interested in the coaching side of goal keeping. Realising the lack of available coaching for goal keepers at grass roots level, Dave decided that this is the way he would like to move. After a chance meeting with the  then Tranmere Rovers keeper, John Achterberg , Dave gained the required coaching qualifications and coached on a number of occasions at Tranmere Rovers. He then went on to coach at The John Achterberg Academy for two and a half years.

He is now the Head of Youth Development and Goal Keeper Coach at Heswall FC on the Wirral. Heswall FC are a West Cheshire County Division 1 side.  His role is to help all the Managers and coaches of the junior teams with the development of young players. He coaches all the goal keepers at Heswall, including the senior goal keepers, one on which is an ex-Tranmere Rovers keeper.

Passionate about goal keeping, especially at grass roots level, Dave believes that it’s important for young Keepers to get quality training from an early age, to develop them into the goal keepers of the future. This is what he will aim to do at J4K Wirral.
