Phil started playing football at 8 years old as left midfielder, until he moved to being a goalkeeper at 14 when he signed for Kidderminster Harriers and then for Aston Villa FC at 15 years old. Phil then spent 3 years training with the youth, reserve and first teams which included the current England Manager Gareth Southgate.

Phil was lucky enough to obtain a scholarship and went to study Sports Medicine at the University of Charleston in 1997; when his contract ended at Aston Villa.  From here, Phil played with the University of Charleston, Men’s Soccer team where he achieved numerous awards and honours during his 4 years. In 1999 Phil was named in the NCAA final four tournament team, where is also achieved 15 clean sheets out 22 games. In 2000 Phil began a soccer program whilst in Charleston, WV. This soccer programme is still going strong today.

Phil has coached players from 6-17 years of age both boys and girls. From here Phil went on to coach a women’s soccer team at West Virginia Technology University, which was the first soccer programme at this university.

In 2002, Phil came back to the UK and played with Halesowen Town FC; unfortunately had to stop playing, due to injury sustained in a car accident.

In 2016 Phil returned to the football world, where he took on coaching & managing grassroots under 7’s team with Halas Hawks FC.  In 2017, Phil took the decision and formed new club called Wolverines FC, that helps develop and teachers the future football stars.

Phil biggest achievement in my footballing career was being named in the University’s Hall of Fame, for football achievement in 1999.
