Goalkeeper training in inverness coming soon.

Mike Fraser has been a professional goalkeeper for over 11 years now and still plays at a very high level in the Scottish premiership. He has played for three different clubs in the Scottish premier league as well as playing abroad and in the Europa league competition.

Mike began his career with Inverness Caledonian Thistle after leaving school and graduated to their first team squad from the youth team making his debut at the age of twenty. At the age of twenty three he became the first regular first choice goalkeeper and made over 70 appearances for the first team before receiving the offer to further his career to join Motherwell F.C.

Motherwell was a difficult time for him because of a change of manager however he managed to experience playing in European competition in the UEFA Europa league and made several appearances in the premier league also.

Various injuries sustained and the form of John Ruddy (now an England international) limited the games he played but Mike stated that he did learn a lot from working alongside John and from the excellent goalkeeping coaching he received while at Motherwell.

After leaving Motherwell Mike decided to move abroad and experience a different style of football where he signed for the Maltese champions Birkirkara and spent 10 months playing there. Mike stated this was an invaluable experience because he learnt many different training methods and enjoyed trying to pass on some of his own experiences also.

It was a very tough decision to leave Malta but he received a good offer to return home to join Ross County who were a Scottish first division team trying to gain promotion to the premier league.

Joining Ross county was a very good decision and he has spent nearly two years there, Winning the Scottish first division title in his first season with a record number of points and going on a 40 match unbeaten league run where he played in every game which has been a highlight of his playing career so far.

Whilst Mike still has many goals in his playing career to achieve as he is still very young, he believes he can offer a lot to young goalkeepers in terms of coaching and passing on the experiences (both good and bad).

He is qualified up to level three youth goalkeeping level and he is currently studying for his goalkeeping licence diploma with the SFA.

This is a wonderful opportunity for local keepers to be taught by Mike who has experienced the highest levels of football and which he can pass on his valuable experiences!
