goalkeeper training wrexham and chester

With our goalkeeper group training sessions in Wrexham and Chester starting very soon here’s some more information on whats to come. I’m so excited to start this journey with all the up and coming goalkeepers of all ages and abilities in the North Wales and Cheshire area. I’ve made it my goal to pass on all my goalkeeping knowledge and experience on to as many young goalkeepers as possible in a hard working but fun environment.

We will be running weekly goalkeeping training classes which will cover all aspects of goalkeeping. Each session will have a key focus and theme and the programme will allow goalkeepers to pick up the key skills needed to play in goal effectively. During the session the goalkeepers will be put through a warm up to get the blood pumping around the muscles and also some goalkeeper related stretches. The goalkeepers will then move on to the technical part of the session which will often focus on technique, footwork and handling. each goalkeeper will be shown the correct technique and then have plenty of opportunity to repeat and practise and try to perfect that technique. At the end of the session we will move on to a game related practise, where each goalkeeper will be able to put what they’ve learned earlier in the session to practise. Throughout the whole session we will speak with the goalkeepers about having a goalkeeper mindset and make sure the goalkeepers know their role within their team. The goalkeepers will also be encouraged to work together as a team within their small groups to solve problems and give each other advice to help each other become better goalkeepers.

Each week our theme and focus will change, depending on the feedback and progress of each goalkeeper within the group. The themes of each week will include the following:

Dealing with crosses

One v one’s

Distribution (with hands & feet)

Starting positions

Plus many more!!

Each session will be both intense and fun, there will be different incentives throughout every session to keep all goalkeepers engaged and motivated. These incentives include ‘goalkeeper of the week’, ‘the golden glove trophy’, which will be awarded at the end of every month to the goalkeeper who listens, encourages, helps others and works the hardest. There will also be a ‘captain goalkeeper of the week’ armband up for grabs every week. Each goalkeeper will also be given a goalkeeper progress sheet which will be filled in at the end of every session with different progress levels. Last but not least each goalkeeper who registers will receive a ‘keeper of the week card’, every goalkeeper that completes the card will be awarded with a free pair of J4K goalkeeping gloves.
