GOALKEEPER COACHING IN PLYMOUTH

Ive been asked many times how & what is the best set position for a Goalkeeper.

The set position is the goalkeeper’sstarting position before facing any shot or delivery. It is important to encourage goalkeepers to recover to this positionwhenever there is a possibility of having to receive  the ball.

1.Feet shoulder width apart.

2.Knees slightly bent

3.Weight forward, forcing heels just off the ground, nose over toes.

4.Hands out in front of body(neutral position)

5,Elbows tucked in (not to tight)

6.Palms pointing towards ball.

Each GK has a slightly different set position and will adapt a different technique,
