Head Coach – Matt Elcock
Matt spent his junior years from the age of 12 upwards as a goalkeeper having made the move from Centre half. He quickly settled into the position and played through the junior ranks representing Jersey at Under 15 & 18 level.
At the age of 17 Matt was invited for trials (which for Jersey was extremely rare) to Derby County courtesy of current Derby goalkeeper coach Eric Steele. Unfortunately this plus another trial at Barnsley did not work out for Matt, but this just opened his eyes to the fact a professional career was not to be. He then spent 4 years at Sheffield Hallam University representing the university side during his time there as well as time spent playing for a local Sheffield team and starting his coaching career. On returning to Jersey in 2004, he carried on playing for another 3 years with St Lawrence FC before “retiring” to focus on coaching.
Between 2003 & 2006 Matt had taken the 2 first steps on the coaching ladder via the Sheffield FA. With these qualifications Matt spent 2 summers working in America with youngsters from 3-16 of all abilities. Matt worked with both outfielders and goalkeepers and even did some extra goalkeeper training for a local youth club in the area during his evenings. Having caught the coaching bug Matt then returned to Jersey and managed to get a voluntary coaching role within local team Rozel Rovers working with their Under 16 & 18 teams over the next 7 years. During this time he was also asked to assist the Jersey ladies team goalkeepers in there preparation before the 2011 Island Games. From 2013/14 season, Matt then focused his coaching attention solely on the junior goalkeepers within Rozel Rovers holding bi-monthly training sessions with all the keepers. In addition to this Matt was also Assistant Manager / GK Coach at St Peters ladies team for 3 seasons. He helped the St Peters goalkeeper work her way into the Jersey ladies squad which is great recognition of the hard work put in.
Matt is always willing to learn and keep his qualifications up to date. He loves reading coaching books, watching DVDs and learning from various coaches. He has been fortunate enough to receive training off some great former keepers – Eric Steele, Steve Sutton, Mart Poom to name a couple and with his hero being the great Neville Southall , Matt certainly loves to instill some high standards. Keepers will work on a different area of goalkeeping each week, including – handling, footwork, angles, kicking and distribution, crosses and high catches, diving, one v ones and through balls. It is important they are practicing on each area regularly to allow them to improve and progress. Most importantly, they will have lots of fun!
Note – In addition to being FA qualified to GK Level 2, Matt is CRB checked and also has his FA Safeguarding Children qualification. He is also a member of the FA Licensed Coaches Association & the Jersey Football Coaches Association
Coach – Jamie Le Fondre
Jamie joined J4K in September 207 following him gaining his GK Level 1 qualification in August 2017. He brings a wealth of coaching experience despite his young age. He represents the Youth Committee , works for the Jersey FA delivering coaching fun weeks and school sessions, and is one of Jersey’s top referees.
Coach – Dominic Le Fondre
Dom has been with J4K since May 2017. Helping out on sessions to build his coaching personality, he then passed his GK Level 1 in August 2017. Dom has a fantastic rapport with the young keepers and engages them as part of their goalkeeper development journey.

Scott began coaching in 2007, after returning to Guernsey following the completion of his University degree in Sport Management and Leadership. He has completed his FA Level 1 and 2 badges for both outfield and goalkeeping and has lead various outfield and goalkeeping groups for both his local club and the Guernsey FA Academy.
In 2013 Scott helped set up then lead the Guernsey FA U7-U14 Goalkeeping Academy, has coached the Guernsey FC Goalkeepers from 2013-18, and is currently the Guernsey FA Representative Goalkeeping coach for the U11, U21 and Senior age groups; positions he has held since 2016.
He assisted the Real Madrid and Ajax academy coaches on their football camps in Guernsey and was invited to observe Reading Football Club’s full time professional coaches for a week during the 2014/15 season, at their training ground at Hogwood Park in Reading.
For the past few seasons, Scott has also organised visits to several local clubs across the island to coach their goalkeepers at both minis and senior age groups.
Due to the ever-evolving nature of both football tactics, ideas and training methods, Scott has continued to improve his coaching knowledge as often as he is able. He has attended conferences, workshops and coaching sessions put on by professional club and international academy coaches, has shadowed various coaches to ensure he continues to develop ideas, and has conducted his own research in to different coaching methods.
