Ryan started life as a goalkeeper from the early age of eight, leading him to represent Carlisle United at youth level, Ryan is currently a player/coach at Heanor Town in the Midland Premier League & Academy Goalkeeper coach at Notts County FC.

Ryan started playing football from the age of 8, and with his clear fearlessness and lack of regard for his own health it was clear to see he belonged in goal, He soon signed for Carlisle United and had a few seasons at the club before moving to Derby, with unsuccessful trials at Derby Ryan then moved on to his Rugby career playing in many successful seasons for Derby Rugby Club & Derbyshire, He believes that his experience in Rugby and Football has given him many tools to be the best coach he can be.

Ryan’s coaching career started when he left college at the age of 17 when he started his apprenticeship at Derby County as a community coach, He soon set up the Derby County RKGK ZoomedTalent Identification Goalkeeping programme where goalkeepers of higher abilities were given specific sessions to propel them into the DCFC Academy, from this Ryan gained his coaching badges leading him to his UEFA B Licence and to Notts County Football Club where he is currently the Academy Goalkeeper Coach working with goalkeepers from U8’s up to U18’s.

Ryan’s coaching career has also lead him to non-league clubs such as Dunkirk FC, Loughborough Dynamo and Heanor Town in the 8th & 9th tiers of English football, He is currently a Player/Coach at Heanor Town.
