Success comes from learning the basics

During the first few sessions at Just 4 Keepers, one of the first things we will assess is the keepers “set position”.

This is one of the fundamentals of goalkeeping and if you can get this right then the other skills you will require as a goalkeeper will fall into place

A few key points to remember are:

  • Stand on the front part of your feet (not flat footed or on your heels)
  • Feet shoulder width apart
  • Hands at waist height (elbows slightly tucked in)
  • Balanced body weight (weight should be even on each foot)
  • Knees slightly bent (your nose should be over your toes)
  • Head steady and eyes on the ball

Once you have mastered the basics you will then be able to progress onto learning how to be a top goalkeeper
