Dream come true for Junayd J4K goalkeeper
Read his story and support his fundraising here (and you could win some amazing prizes too)
Junayd was my first J4K student 3 years ago in Preston and Blackburn. A late starter at 14, he was a junior league goalkeeper deemed not good enough by his school academy team coach. When he first started he was inexperienced, nervous, and polite to say a little ‘unfit’, with a determination to make himself better.
With twice weekly one 2 one sessions and attending weekly goalkeeper classes, Junayd has become a confident, fitter and faster goalkeeper. He has developed to represent his college academy team in the English Colleges FA League and semi-pro club youth team in the FA North West Youth Alliance League.
After winning a national football competition last November, Junayd has had a tough few months of trials and assessments proving himself to scouts and coaches. This hard work seems to have paid off, as he has been rewarded with a truly amazing opportunity for which he needs your support to complete his fundraising.
Junayd has been offered a part funded, chance-of-a-lifetime invitation to the world class Michael Johnson Performance Center in Dallas, for 6 months elite athletic and goalkeeper training, and the opportunity to work with the development team of FC Dallas.
The Athletic and Goalkeeper Training Development program will involve:
- Pre-Evaluation Structural Analysis
- Corrective Exercise Grid (Injury Protection Program)
- 5 Day Training Week in the Elite Program
- 3-4 high intensity training units – develop body strength & movement speed
- 1-2 low intensity training units – develop mobility and regeneration
- Vision/Sensory training 1-2 days per week
- One to one professional GK training in MJP/FC Dallas Program
- Physiotherapy, Contrast Hydro and Normatec Compression recovery sessions
- Performance testing to measure effectiveness and functional status
As you can see this is elite level training and support. When a legend like Michael Johnson (12 times Olympic and World Champion) offers a chance like this, you have to do everything you can to take it. Junayd knows more work is needed, and the next six months will be the hardest of his life.
He has every opportunity of making his dream come true. I would kindly request everyone at J4K and who use J4K – coaches, players and parents – to pledge just £10 (or more if you can) and get Junayd there. This has the potential to open doors for future J4K keepers too.
